Some Of Our Services
Articulation and Phonology
Children may produce sounds incorrectly. A child who does not say sounds by the expected ages may have a speech sound disorder, otherwise known as an articulation delay.
A phonological disorder focuses on rule-based errors that can affect more than one sound.
It can be difficult to differentiate between articulation and phonological disorders. As a result many clinicians prefer to use the broader term, "speech sound disorder.”
Augmentative and Alternative Communication
AAC refers to ways we communicate without talking. It can include high tech communication devices like an iPad or other speech generating device, communication boards, picture symbols, sign language, and gestures.
Apraxia of Speech
Apraxia refers to inability for a child to get messages from their brain to their articulators so they can effectively execute correct speech movements. Your child may not be able to move their lips or tongue in the right ways, even though their muscles are not weak. Levels of severity can vary.
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism Spectrum Disorder refer to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. Speech pathologists can assist in all these areas.
